Your Masons Paint van is in excellent condition, a very good find. You have some interesting pre-war items in your cabinet, is the Crawfords van original?

Just got the cabinet shown above hung and populated. Predominantly prewar. One of the Tractors is a repaint and the 28 series van is a white metal reproduction and of course the Mini Van is much later.
Haven't ever been lucky enough to see any of these vans with a price I would contemplate spending....

2018 is turning out to be a really great year in the acquisition stakes.......

Firstly this week another variation of the Leyland Octopus Tanker

Black Hubs / White Chassis - slightly worse nick than the others already in the fleet, but a treasure....

With the other black hub version

And all together:

Now for the biggest single investment to date, and this isn't the one mentioned above. I was all set up to acquire that lot when this lot popped up on our local auction site mid morning last Monday. The auction title of Many Pre War Dinky's is guaranteed to get the interest going. 70 plus items with at least 20 being pre war. Very Very dusty ( and a couple of overpaints), but cleaning these gems up is half the fun. 5 hour round trip planned for tomorrow on an impromptu day off to pick these beauties up. More (many more) photos to come once they're in a presentable condition.

A few later model, and FunHo items thrown in. Bizarrely four French Dinky items too, Citroen, Tripoteur and two go karts.... Other notable mentions - Light Blue 6 wheeled truck, Royal Mail Car, white telephone box, Salmson with driver, series 1 25 Market garden truck, 2 X 19 Rail Wagons, Streamlined Saloon, Steamlined Tourers, a fleet of Taxis, GR Royal Mail vans. An absolute abundance of White Tyred / smooth hubbed Vintage metal.

Cheers

Wow, I would definitely make the 5 hour return trip for the Royal Air Mail Car and Salmson two seater with driver alone; not to mention the type 1 25 series Market Gardener's lorry, pre war bus, taxis and the Chrysler Airflow!

Did you have much competition for this lot?

Surprisingly competition was light, most dropped out early. The fact that the auction ended mid morning on a Monday limited the sellers audience. I was prepared to pay whatever it took, As these just do not come up locally. I consider it an absolute bargain as I got them for an average of just over 16 quid each :o :o :o oh and $150 in petrol, a day's annual leave........all up well below what they're worth individually. Thoroughly stoked.......

It wasn't the easiest of journeys to pick the lot above up, torrential rain and slippery roads, but I and they made it back in one piece.

I've started work on tidying these up, but the raw items can be seen at the gallery below:

This lot was a Father and Son collection with the sons need for money being the prompt for moving these on. Silver overpainting and flat tyres from years sitting in one place seem to be the themes. Thankfully the silver paint is coming off easily, the caravan likely to be the best under the overpaint.

This lot really is great, the icing for me was as I was leaving the seller told me to hold on as he remembered he had located a few boxes after listing the auction.

Will post the final cleaned up items with new tyres where appropriate to this thread in a month or so.

Other arrivals in the mail today are below:

Some great pictures in your gallery, I would think the Alfa Romeo racing car having spun hubs must be unusual. The 500 2cv is also one of my favorite models and quite a bonus having the original box thrown in.

All bargains at the price you paid especially as some of the pre-war models will be worth into 3 figures (UK£) each.

I would have bid on these too Dave but saw your message to the seller re a (very cheeky!) low Buy It Now.... figured you'd bid properly later so kept out of it - not a bad haul and I might have been prepared to go a bit higher than you finally did - was glad to see them go to someone who will clean them and care for them... :D

You're right Ian it was very cheeky, but it has worked before. Being a collector himself selling his fathers collection this seller was certain of the need to let the auction run.

I was surprised more of the established collectors / buyers didn't bid in the end. Not complaining though, am very happy to get these!

Cheers
