I like them and may pick a few up in time but feel they must stay as a limited edition and let it be made common knowledge they are copies....Oh I say copys not reissues..IMHO...

I agree that the Atlas models are copies rather than reissues. That's not a bad thing, and they are nicely made. The Esso tanker is superb, and I'm sure lots will be taking advantage of the opportunity to obtain this for just 2.99. With the unaffordable prices some of the original mint and boxed items can fetch, these make a decent budget alternative. I see there is a new De Agostini series with the same castings but in different colours, and at a slightly lower price, but I won't be getting those - I have to draw the line somewhere!

I witnessed one of the £2.99 Atlas Esso Tankers selling for £35 at the Falkirk swap meet earlier this month!!!!

Having held it, i agree that it is a delightful looking tanker and i would happily pay £2.99 to own one. I am sure there was a flyer in one of the diecast magazines i subscribe to with that offer on it if i recall correctly.

This arrived today - a different copy of the 35b/200 Midget Racer. This one has grille detail and the axles are not actually cast into the body.

That's what has just swung it for me. Ordered the tanker tonight which in itself is a bargain - go and see what kind of rubbish toys you can get for 3 quid in a supermarket, but the Guy is something I could never own any other way in anything like a presentable condition. The prices also make it seem more sensible than attempting a decent restoration.

Today an Atlas VW Beetle arrived in light blue. Coincidentally, I recently bought the same item as an original Dinky. The Dinky was in pretty good condition, and looked nice and bright, but the Atlas makes it look a bit drab in comparison! Mind you, the (unboxed) Dinky actually cost slightly less than the Atlas reproduction.

Atlas had done a good job. The wheels are a bit shiny (the finish looks like it is plated rather than aluminium), and the silver on the bumpers is a bit more generous than on the original, but these are minor points. It's nice to see that Atlas have improved their silver paint from the rather grey finish some earlier issues had.

One plus on the Atlas is the lack of the nasty casting lines which the Dinky has.

I agree with all what you say about the VW, a nice rendition of an iconic car. As stand alone models, Atlas are very good products and good examples of modern Day production methods for a given budget.

Do members want a listing of the models made so far?

Hello dutchdinky. I have resized your picture. If you open the picture in 'Paint' on Windows 7, 8 or 10, computers, you can fairly easily resize the picture. Your picture I resized to 22% of it's original size and reposted through 'Imgbox' picture hosting site. In general the pictures we post to the forum are around 600 pixels.

I presume the model you show is based on a White metal kit or was a stock of original Dinky Vans found and repainted.
