Yes, even something as sacred as Chitty Chitty Bang Bang has been copied. The lower model is a direct copy of the Corgi toys (the upper model), but is 270 mm long, a bit bigger than the Corgi original. It was made in Spain by MOLTO, who once marketed the Gerry Anderson vehicles by 'JR 21' in their own MOLTO boxes, but this was an agreement between Gerry's toy department and Molto, so no harm done, but I am not sure how the Chitty model came about, it may well have been another agreement but with Corgi because the box is very similar to the Corgi. I will try and find the picture for it and insert here.

BTW, when you are reading the lyrics, you need to imagine the music from the film going on in your head...

Nice one, Ghosty, and yes I am humming the song ... :)

I had seen the Molto before but never the box, so I have looked for it now. Luckily, there was a boxed one that just sold a few weeks ago. Certainly more than just a passing resemblance to the Corgi box. ;) I am not so sure if Corgi were aware of this box design. The artwork is the official artwork from the film (so could be supplied from the film company to Molto as part of the licence agreement) and was also used on the soundtrack album. But the rest is certainly a copy of Corgi's model and box design, and I don't think they would have permitted its use.

You're welcome Ghosty !

It's so a Corgi copy that the green one had Corgi hub stickers on its wheels, when I bought it !

Back to another TV tie-in car...

Playart's smaller copy of the Corgi Toys 'Man from U.N.C.L.E. car.

This was available in several colours but as far as I know, it was never marketed for what it is, 'PLAYART' probably not having a license to make it a proper TV tie-in car.
