I love the Spot-On models range, yes they were too big against the Corgi and Dinky Toys, yes they were more expensive, yes they were not as easily available and yes, the first few Years production had very few working features...but they hold so many valuable memories for me and I wish I had a good Spot-On collection.
The Silver Wraith has captured the real car quite well and is based on the 1956 Earls Court Motor Show car. The Bentley is also based on a car at the same show, being the H.J. Mulliner 'Lightweght' 4 door saloon.
Both these models were designed by Peter Allen who after leaving Tri-Ang, worked for Airfix to design some great plastic kits including the 1/12th scale Bentley 'Blower'.
I do like the Bentley in that colour scheme, very Elton John if you ask me...
