Look at the top of this header card. How many Matchbox copies can you see? Are the non Matchbox models Dinky or Corgi copies?

Yes Steve, Corgi copies on that header card alongside the Matchbox copies.
If anyone ever needed evidence of the influence Lesney products have had on the whole toy and model industry, then this thread is good enough!

On this comment of Lesney's influence can I ask who was first to make a ford corsair Dinky or Lesney the reason is both are 2 door models as are the modern Carama most of the real ones are 4door like the Lone Star model
So who influenced who ? This could also apply to some others the Vauxhall estate and ford cortina spring to mind

Hi Reg,
I guess who ever had their model released first.
To be honest if both manufacturers model makers modelled the same vehicle and were any good at what they did then they should look very much the same.
The copies that interest me the most are the one of made up vehicles. Not real production models. Also the way the model is assembled.

In answer to the question from Reg...The first Ford Corsair model.
The real car was introduced in October 1963.
Of the Three British toy producers...
The Dinky Toys 2 door version was introduced in June 1964.
The Matchbox 4 door version version was introduced in February 1965.
The Lone-Star 4 door version was introduced in June/July 1966.
So the Dinky was first.

I've not seen the AHI models altogether before (I'm having a few technical problems at the moment, could someone kindly post a few photos please?)
