'Dinky Toy' copies.

Here is a nice big copy of the Dinky Toys Leyland Dump Truck.

Made by 'CLIFFORD' and marketed under the 'Clifford Toys' name, this is nice, but they have not replicated the wheel-arches, choosing to have a box-section design instead of the round ones of the Dinky.

I have not seen this marketed under any other 'Brand' name or logo.

Here is another fine Dinky Toy with plenty of play value, like when your in a hurry to get your fuel load to the Garage before they close and you take a short-cut along the Country road to save some time but a tyre bursts on the trailer, serious stuff at the best of times for a truck driver but with this load, well, you'll have to call 'International Rescue', they will send Lady Penelope in Her Dinky Toys "FAB 1" to asses the situation but you can not stop your 'Rig' or you'll block the road, so you have to keep going with that dodgy tyre at the back threatening to come off once it's finished throwing bits of tread all over the place!

...the tractor unit on this 'LUCKY TOYS' has clearly been inspired by the Dinky unit, not a direct copy, but the trailer section has found inspiration from somewhere else...

...and here it is, the Corgi Major Military tanker and the Lucky trailer looks like a direct copy of this.

I have shown one of the models below before in this thread, it is the plastic copy of a the Silver Wraith by 'TAT', but here are Two more copies of the same Silver Wraith.

The larger Grey model is by 'LINCOLN' and the smaller Blue model is unbranded but I believe it was marketed by 'LINDA' and is very close in design to the 'TAT' but has been made from different tooling and is about the same size. The 'LINCOLN' is larger than the original Dinky model but the other Two are virtually the same size as the Dinky.

I know of one more plastic model that I think is a copy of the Dinky Silver Wraith in a very small scale, but I don't have a picture of it handy.

This may just about qualify as a copy of Dinky's 22h Streamlined Saloon as recently shown in the Dinky thread by Chris Warr.
It's extremely coarse, with no grille (or even doors on the other side) visible but the 3 horizontal bars on the bonnet sides are still visible.
Whether it was made in a factory or a back garden shed doesn't bother me at all, the reason I think it is copied or inspired by the 22h is the identical length - bang on 85mm.

Hi Ewan, the differences may be due to the model being based on a De Soto 'Airflow' rather than the Chrysler. What do you think it is made from because it looks rather porous as if it were hard rubber, then painted by a hobbyist.

It's made of lead, pretty thick too and rather heavy. Here's a pic from underneath

Just my opinion but I would go with a back garden shed copy..Plenty of kids messed about with moulton lead in my day and it wouldnt have been hard to knock off a few of these for your mates when there was so much leaded lights going spare on all the waste land that was around.....

I think it is something more professional than that (but only slightly!). The reason I say this is because of the recesses at the font and rear of the car, separated from the main body cavity by what I assume are axle tunnels. If you were pouring lead into a simple mould, you would not get that internal structure.
