I couldn't resist this model when I saw it. I like to think it provided someone with hours of enjoyment.

At Christmas my wife bought me a Super GT 10 pack. Nothing special I know, but this was a total surprise and the fact she bought me something Matchbox without any help from me really impressed me. Well since receiving it I have become a bit of a Super GT fan. All the models you see in the pictures below have been bought since I received the 10 pack. I really like them. I have now started to hunt wheel variations and this week received the Blue Porsche 910 with rear 8 Dot Wheels and a Yellow Hairy Hustler with front 8 Dot wheels, oh and the dark Blue Porsche 910.

RRRob:

I recognized among your wife´s cars a remake of the old Iso Grifo made in England fifty years ago. There are in the fourth picture the first and second car counting since the left side.

Rob, could you just mention to your lovely wife that Ghosty is a bit short on models at the moment... ;)

Super GT is a bit of an odd line. Matchbox modified older castings, used opaque black plastic for windows, and gave them tampos with no more than two colors. It seems they were going after the cheap no-name die-cast toys...if so, they had a brilliant strategy. In addition to multi-packs and single models in blisterpacks, they can also be found in a "super value pack" with a Matchbox Specials model.

You already have quite the collection, Rob. I'm half tempted to hunt down one that used the old 32D Maserati Bora tooling...just to see if the doors (which they apparently didn't bother to cast shut) open to an empty interior, leaving the side windows up!

Rob has a Maserati Bora in his collection, I have a few of these stored away but mostly play worn ones. Nice selection Rob, I bet there is a few of these to collect.

I love the super gt's. Have a lot, played, mint and in blister. Even in Christmas packing. When I started collection I thougth there were around 255 differents models but there are a lot more. Also made in england and other countries, also sometimes variations off the bottom but pictures off it have been long removed in the past.

Thanks for the comments guys.
Not long ago I bought Charlie Mack's book and there is a lot to go at, but the good thing is that they are still quite cheap. I really love the fact that they reused some of my favourite castings; Porsche 910, Ford Group 6, ISO Grifo and of course the Escort and Capri.I really like to find the same colours that have been made in both England and China, which I now have a few of. I also notice that some models have white opaque windows, does anyone know why this is ?

Off to Stafford tomorrow to continue the hunt...........unless I am struck down by the C word !
