Oh that was fun guys - admiral detective work. We never get much of this on the Moyboyz site as we all know MoYs never get faked !!!(now there is a tongue in cheek quote). great to see these kind of people found out in the hobby.

I would like to get back to this statement by Antonin, as I want to find out the real truth about this and inquire what others think about it.

I tend to agree with Antonin's statement that SPW ø8x18 never existed. However note that this does not refer to the 11b or any other particular model, but to a certain wheel type, regardless of the model on which it might be found. It does not indicate either whether genuine 11b examples with any silver wheels exist or not.

Stannard listed SPW ø8x18 on only two models, the 11b tanker and the 37b Coca-Cola truck. Both models are extremely rare with silver wheels, so I cannot help wondering if any catalogue author has ever had the chance to see one and measure its wheel dimensions.

My feeling is that any silver wheels found on 11b or 37b would most likely be 7.5mm diameter wheels, not 8mm. SPW ø7.5x18 are found on some models which normally come with grey wheels of the same dimensions, i.e. 20b, 21b, 35a, 48a, 51a, 56a and 58a.

It is therefore possible that such SPW ø7.5x18 found their way on 11b or 37b examples, either at the factory or later on in some people's private homes.

I believe that the SPW example of 11b shown further up in this thread (of which I cannot tell whether it was made at the factory or not) has SPW ø7.5x18 rather than SPW ø8x18, although it is not that easy to see.

Therefore, in my opinion the listing entries of 11b and 37b with silver wheels should be either removed or changed from 8mm to 7.5mm diameters. Larger SPW ø9x20 or SPW ø9x24 would also be possible, but the entries with 8mm diameter are most probably incorrect.

I would like to hear others' opinions about this.

Yes Hugh, I can confirm this variation.
Antonin
I can also confirm the 8a variation.
[I bought this very play worn example as part of a large lot (average cost $2.14 each) in Salem NY in 2010.]

Definitely not a beauty but an interesting snippet of time. To my eye, the axle ends and wheels look genuine. I would be happy to post more photos or review with Kwackers if there are any questions.

That model looks like an excellent example Kurt, well loved and all original. I as well can confirm having this same 2B Road Tanker without cab brace, with 2.5mm half round base crossmember, with oblong open base hole and no silver trim to the side tanks.
I have a NOTATION of a model with this same base, cab without brace, domed riveted axles, but with early hand applied trim to grill, headlights and vehicle fuel tanks. I do not have an example of this one in our collection, but if I have a notation of it, It does exist. Two examples of this second code should also be able to be found, confirmed, and added to Nick's Codes one day. Anyone have a Tanker with these features?? (How about a spare for me..... ;) ;) ) Cheers, Kwakers

a) rear brace with step
b) rear brace without step

Have also one with rear brace with step, model with gold trim on grille(not the fueltanks), with brace between the cab and tank, with hole but no hole between the rear axcles, with grey metal wheels, 2.5 mm brace. Variation not found in the list.
