This is my first visit to the thread (just backs up what my wife says "Totally oblivious to what going on around you - wrapped up in your own little world "
I need to be careful otherwise I'm going to find myself buying the odd Fun-Ho model just to have a look and who knows how that will end up.

And I'm totally lost now - where does Fun Ho! come into the discussion on NZ Matchbox? (I've re-read the thread and still can't fathom it out) - or is Rodger just throwing a curve-ball into the discussion to confuse me?

I was about 3/4 threads behind. I'd been viewing Steve's (Matchboxkiwi) collection and thinking about my narrow focus Matchbox 1953-69 and wondering if I'd ever collect anything else - linked to what models I see down our local Sunday market (mainly Fun Ho) - thread title "New Zealand Matchbox" - linking to New Zealand models & the Marlowe Roadways.

I'm sure that has cleared it all up for you.

Yes that clears things up - but don't fall into the Fun Ho! trap... you'll end up ferreting in boxes and under tables and in garage sales for the rest of your life! If you really really really have to - stick to the Mobil miniatures - there's less of them to collect in the long run! (although there's at least three different versions of the Chrome #7 bus base alone!)

Not sure Marcel as I was never a member of the Club - Steve might know since he has the pin and magazines. All I have is the Code 3 MB 38 the Club issued as a Limited Edition with Certificate... sorry no photo - I can't seem to find it on my hard drive!

BTW The NZ Matchbox Club should not be confused with the NZ Model Vehicle Club Inc of which I am a member - NZMVC is an older Club, originally formed in 1969 and still operational - NZ Matchbox Club I believe was formed in the 1980s and is now defunct (closed).

Steve Rodgers formed the club around 1986 and it only went for a few years. He had a shop by the Paramata round about behind the Mobil station.
The shop was very good. I would have thought one of the better one's for Wellington. It was for me, as it had lots of Matchbox to buy.
The club itself would have been lucky to have had 100 members I would have thought. Quarterly swap meets were held in the local school hall, there was always a good variety of stuff on offer .
The magazines were always well out of date when published as most of the information came from Charlie Mack's magazines or the early MICA magazines and at that stage I was a member of both. The best thing about them were the local contacts for buying and selling or letting you know when the next swap meet was on. It's all I ever got them for.
