Indeed, the pun on my name is from ‘life of brian’ Notwithstanding the fact I rank as high as any man in Rome. Getting back to the guy warrior transporters, would I be correct in thinking the time line goes something like this:
Major series blue cab, blue body; Major series red cab, grey body, Kingsize Guy Warror yellow cab, yellow body; Kingsize Guy Warrior turquoise cab, orange body, Kingsize regular wheels blue cab, gold body, Kingsize regular wheels yellow cab, yellow and orange body ‘DAF’ then the same colours ‘DAF’ and stripes super fast....?
Major series blue cab, blue body; Major series red cab, grey body, Kingsize Guy Warror yellow cab, yellow body; Kingsize Guy Warrior turquoise cab, orange body, Kingsize regular wheels blue cab, gold body, Kingsize regular wheels yellow cab, yellow and orange body ‘DAF’ then the same colours ‘DAF’ and stripes super fast....?
All my collection is absolutely mint, sage and onion condition

I think you're mixing up three different models in your list - the accessory pack transporter, then the Guy, then the DAF.A-Man-Called-Bwian wrote:...would I be correct in thinking the time line goes something like this:

The accessory pack was blue cab, blue trailer and then red cab, grey trailer.
The Guy goes roughly like this:
Major turquoise cab, turquoise trailer (prepro)
Major turquoise cab, orange trailer, early decals
Major turquoise cab, orange trailer, later decals
King size turquoise cab, orange trailer
King size turquoise cab, yellow trailer
King size yellow cab, yellow trailer
There are quite a few casting differences through time, and cross-over models with King size cabs and major pack trailers and the other way round. There's also a change from orange to red wheels and from grey to black tyres.
The DAF is an entirely separate model that started as a regular wheel and became a Superking. It goes roughly:
Blue cab grey trailer (prepro)
Blue cab, gold trailer
Blue cab, yellow and orange trailer (rare)
Yellow cab, yellow and orange trailer
Yellow cab, yellow and orange trailer Superking
Re: Introduction to Beginners' Corner
Now that's an interesting one. Although the model contains pre-production components, is a slightly different shade of turquoise, and has red hubs instead of orange, all the evidence is that it was released to retail outlets in small numbers.DrJeep wrote:The Guy goes roughly like this:

That is interesting. I’d certainly like to find one. I missed out on a grey and blue DAF earlier this year that only one other person noticed - I should have bid higher!Idris wrote:Now that's an interesting one. Blimey! I can’t think to either concentrate on one vehicle (although £600 plus for the blue cab get trailer is both beyond my pocket and beyond my ability to explain to the wife) or collect better quality examples for my Kingsize collection. A happy dilemma to be in, methinks.

Re: Introduction to Beginners' Corner
mine too! The DAF that sold for £600+ was this lovely prepro with some obvious casting differences from the production model, particularly around the rear support.A-Man-Called-Bwian wrote:£600 plus for the blue cab get trailer is both beyond my pocket and beyond my ability to explain to the wife
The one I missed was a playworn one of these, complete with blue ramp - it went for under £30. I so wish I'd bid more, but I was leading on £5 until the last seconds. Perhaps someone here got it?
Re: Introduction to Beginners' Corner
Hi all, fairly new to the collecting scene, although in my childhood (1960's/70's) i had a massive collection of Matchbox/Dinky/Corgi/Husky etc.....which unfortunately has been depleted over the years due to heavy playwear between myself,my kids, and my nephews .
Im mainly looking to replace the long gone models which i once owned, and to collect models of the cars of my childhood that were owned by friends/family/neighbours.
As my collection is purely for my own pleasure,im not that interested in mint boxed models but am happy to restore well playworn models to my own spec if need be (looking for a Mk 1 Ford transit to paint matt black,as i owned one in the early 80's )
These are some of whats left of my original collection, ill just clean them up and they can stay as original, but one or two will be re painted.

Re: Introduction to Beginners' Corner
Hello Kevin (great name by the way), welcome to the forum and thanks for the pictures.
First off can I please recommend you do not paint, re-paint the nice orange-red with red interior Matchbox Ford Mustang. This is a very collectible variation and looks to be in fairly good condition and maybe we can have a few extra pictures of it on its own.
If scale is not a problem for you then the Corgi Vangaurds range included a splendid 1/43rd scale Series 1 Ford Transit. If you prefer the model to be nearer the size of the Matchbox miniatures then Siku made a Series 1 Ford Transit 'Kombi' (mini bus), which would not require too much work to transform it into a Van.
Ebay is going to be the best source of replacement models for you or the nearest collectors toy fair in your area.
Ghosthunter.

Re: Introduction to Beginners' Corner
Hello Ghosthunter, and thanks for the reply. The Red/Orange Mustang is going to be one that is just having a clean,as its not too bad paint wise, although the windscreen is broken
Worth replacing (if available)?
