I agree with Al the modern section does get somewhat over looked and Jim's postings are helping me a lot

Well, just to make an example, we have now put some action into that particular thread over there!

More generally though, I have always thought that that the more recent stuff is well catered for by other forums, and this forum's main focus is the Lesney era. Of course I will always try my best to provide information about any Matchbox topic that comes up in the "Modern Matchbox" section, as far as I am able to find the time. I am, however, not inclined to start any topic there myself.

I think some of the more modern stuff should be included it may encourage younger collectors to become involved and keep us fresh

I agree and its surprising how many collectors with the older models are also interested in more modern models, even having small collections of them and I think we have got the right mix here. I have seen those other forums Christian mentions and they have certainly become very comprehensive in their content, but even they nod to the past on occasions, as their members bring old stuff into the discussions.

Ok, i´m here for 15 days and this is my 99. post, so the argument doesn´t hit me

Whata a little confusing to me are the "Beginners Corner" and "My first forum".

In my understanding "My first forum" means the first forum i ever visited (whatever this may have been), not to leave my first post in this sub-forum. Also this is at the bottom of the forums list, not easy to find for a noob. But that may just be my wrong understanding. I think, it should be called kind of "new members intruduction" and sticky at the top.

Beginners corner should more be an introduction of the forum to new members, explaining the structure of the forums and subforums and a guide to "where to...". Also it should be closed for postings. Now it leads to post from noobs, which should be posted in the right subforum, because they feel, they need to post only in the "Beginners Corner".

This may be a little off topic in this post, but as these two forums were mentioned here and now, i shared my thoughts.

I think "Your First Forum" is something that Nick should have removed after setting up the rest of the forums. Fairly sure it is a defualt form that comes with the software (but I could be wrong). If I am wrong, then I have no idea what the forum is for.

I think it's a default folder too. I have toyed with deleting it, having first transferred the contents to e.g. The Lounge, but have held back on that because I'm not absolutely certain that deleting it won't have consequences for the rest of the Board.

Correct, The "your first forum" is part of the software that should have been removed when I first started the forum, I did not know that at the time,
Unfortunately I can't delete it because I used the "your first forum" to set the user permissions, delete the forum and the user permissions go with it.

Nick, won´t you be able to rename it and make it a place, where new members can introduce themselfs? So nothing is lost and it really makes sence.
