Quality always sells ,I can't see prices ever going down in real terms but like antiques there are peaks and troughs ,

I am certainly addicted to my collection, but have never purchased anything for investment purposes, its because I want it for the collection, the fact that many models are going to be an investment when sold-on is a bonus, but I do not keep records of how valuable my models are.

Whenever I come home with a few examples I sit an hour or so that evening researching what the model is and it's approx value normally using toy mart for a ball park figure ,I am often amazed that items I pick up for 50p or £1.£2 are supposedly worth anything from a lowly 50p to even £100 . I normall write out a post it note and attach it to the model with an elastic band before putting batches in the attic. I reall need a day in the attic to sort exactly what I have asi have forgotten most .

The values quoted in places like Nicks listings and Ramseys guide book are the top mint and boxed you would expect (there are always exceptions like the Lone Star Firenzas) to pay/receive but they very soon tumble depending on condition, it's an eye opener when you realise how much you could be sitting on if they were all mint and boxed
