WOW this thread is getting long and is full of good pics and info ,but if you read it from the start the three gems or more precise the maker still hasn,t been named which i think proves how rare they are.I only know the maker and the name of one of the models( its on its base lol) the other two i am working on the info,there are five unnamed models so far so if you are trying to work it out those other two are black budgie taxis.

Dave - given the original photo has disappeared (at least for me) I'd say your two black taxis (if Matchbox size) were by Benbros or Budgie - does it have No. 13 on the base?

The cost of postage is a major factor to me even in this country,some auction houses provide their own service,usually this is cheaper and quicker that a courier,others the courier method is the only way,there are at least 5 local auctions well within a hours drive for me so just have to keep my eyes peeled sometimes you wait for days then the starting bid is way higher than you were prepared to pay ! then other times no one bids and you pick up bargains,if i miss a lot i want there always something else in the near future.
You could try asking an auction house if they were prepared to send it surface,this usually allows larger weights for roughly half the cost,the only down side is the 3 month wait.

My information has arrived,an old model collector mag lol,in it an excellent article on the gems by the late mike richardson ,he says this quartet of english saloons of the early fifties is of interest to the serious collector of british road vehicles as two prototypes are included that are not modelled elsewhere
.There are only four models in the range,three are diecast metal and one of all plastic construction.
In the lot were the three metal cars, a morris 6,a riley 1.5 litre and a austin A30(On the baseplate its called an austin seven).The article goes into some depth about the real cars and at the end he says the cars actually pictured are the only ones he has seen in 30 years,this may help gauge the rarity of them.The plastic car is a jaguar mark v11 saloon and is the rarist of the lot.
My second pi shows the three bradcars ,the first with the budgie austins and a dinky duplo austin for scale .

I do like the Bradcars but sadly most I've come across have gone for much bigger prices than I had bid!
