GHOSTHUNTER wrote:Thanks Matchboxmarcel, that's some pretty useful info and the date now seems secure for the sets, 1966 and probably into 1967. Looked for that edition on EBay but so far have not seen it, will continue the search.
Ghosty.
Keep online, I have some more info, the ebaylink is posted in an earlier post by me here.

I have just noticed the front of the box looks different to those posted here on the forum. Where it says "MATCHBOX" on the forum sets, the one in the catalogue image seems to say...Sears Set with something below it and there appears to be no room for the sticky label seen on "Kay's" set, what do you think!

I used a photoprogramm to make the text bigger under the pictures and uploaded this again to my photobucket (took some time):
Here the signs are mentioned and sets comes complete with ramp and comes with carying case.
Looks like any of the groups could be combined with the case and I think the case could also be bought without models. (that would make sense to Neil's case without lable and models)
I don't know if the Kingsize Fire Engine in Kay's set is an original content.

Ghosty, I agree it looks a little bid different (maybe the artistic view of this as some items still drawn at the time)
I agree with Simpson Sears
And also there is the word SET after the MATCHBOX Banner.
It definitivly the same item as you can see the top of it and the ramp and the signs etc.
I am very much into packaging so allthough I don't collect regular Wheels myself (I don't have enough money/space/time to start a toymuseum) I am allways very keen on all kinds of special packaging on toys, especially on Matchbox items.
I have quite a few Giftsets myself and a lot of rare blisterpacks from the 60ties.
Also Neil's collection (who lives nearby) is a good reference for me as he is pretty much the same way collecting Regular Wheels and early superfast as I collect the MOY range

Hi again Matchboxmarcel, this was a really exciting few posts then with "Kay" bringing that set to the forum, like you I could not maintain an actual 'Regular Wheels' collection, but do find hours of fun looking at packaging etc, from the main British brands like Matchbox, Corgi and Dinky.
I agree on the possibility of the outer box being available separately without the models, quite possibly flat-packed, for the new owner to build-up ready for putting his/her models in to it.

Hi Marcel.
You might be interested in an unlisted Matchbox G10 giftset that I have, Ramsays guide lists this set

But not this one, note it contains the green service station and pumps but also the red breakdown truck, Vectis have sold one of the red garage sets but never handled the green garage set.

Tom has posted some photos of his great toyroom here:

On the 11th photo top right is his Candian set.
It would be interresting to know which variation Tom has in his collection.
