Here are pics as promised of the casting differences between the Pre-production Cream Lomas and the Off-White Lomas. All the early Cream Lomas does not have (should not have) the pronounced side body-sills (skirtings??) and over the rear wheel arches as seen on the later castings. The early Stark-White castings also do not have these pronounced side sills. Please click on pics to view fully.
Those who have the genuine Cream Bedford Lomas in their collection would easily identify them as being True-Cream by way of these casting differences.

Hello Numi, I don't collect these but appreciate what collectors do find on their models and you have illustrated some casting differences very well with your pictures. I know know what to look for at toy fairs when there are no more Rolls-Royce models to look at, thank you.

Hello Numi.
Very interesting color difference.
See also the color difference at the rear doors.
I sent this already in the old forum.

Hi Numi
very nice spotted, I have never noticed this variation. I have checked my models and I have several models without the side sills and they have various colours and various silver trims. Unfortunatelly my first computer is faulty and I can not insert the photos.

It's interesting how Lesney failed to learn from past errors: the need for strengthening of the sills on the 14c Lomas didn't stop the same mistake being made on the 35c Merryweather, and how about the front valance reinforcement on the 46a Morris Minor - the same design flaw was repeated on the 10c Sugar Truck.

ยค67 VW1600TL and #5 Lotus also needed sills thickening after release to prevent too much wastage from casting distortion

I suppose it's confirmation of the fact that
organisations have no memory.
