Nice find Jason. Unless they're tucked away in a listing somewhere, the nice ones cost a lot and there's so many fakes about.

I would say its the one thats overpainted the most, everybody that had the green one just wanted a red Ferrari. As for the top end ones I just cannot do it, I have lots of good
swaps so am hoping to find someone with a good spare one.

Close runner up is the #8 RW mustang. Seems like these are all repainted to red as well.

Yes thats quite true, seems that even as kids we wanted Ferrari and Mustangs in red. Ferrari I can understand but I am not sure about the mustang. J

I can't explain it either but I have enlarged about a million pictures thinking I had found a red RW mustang only to see yet another repaint. They are just taunting me!

The red Ferraris were sent out in the regular wheeled race sets in 1969 after the Superfast in red had already been introduced. As Mint rares, they were 500 back in the late 70s when I bought mine fresh out of collector Pat Lamagna's 8 race sets (possibly out of Canada), and still can be bought Mint for exactly that U.S. sum today. The word has always been that the red Ferrari Regular Wheel was later found in Canada in quantity, so the demand has never kept up with the Mint ones still available in today's market. The mint red Ferrari I bought at Charlie Mack's Show at West Point (that I have owned 30 Plus years) was perhaps the poorest Lesney investment I have ever made, so I like your attitude towards finding a Mint one for yourself Jason. There were only Pat's 8 known in the U.S. at that point in time, but blue low loaders and green Tankers were seen on every serious collector's shelves back then, and still are today. I could have bought one mint of each for what that Ferrari cost back then, and I definately would have had a better re-sale on them today.
With our theft 16 years ago, I lost my Mint 69 cent store bought RW Mustang in orange-red. I am in no hurry to find a pricey mint one to replace it, but I still would like to find an original 'Filler' (Like your Ferrari J) for that variation. They turn up now and then, but I think the mint price on the orange-red Mustang is actually higher than that red Ferrari's today.....kwakers

The purple windows are not to hard to get, just the model was quite cheap and I could not resist it and as it turned out it was one I had overlooked and did
not have at all. Still learning a bit myself on these later ones John , its just nice to get mint ones instead of my normal chipped ones.J

here my purple Window Fandangos and the rare white with red Propeller.Cheers Mathias.

Thanks for sharing Mathias.
I would consider the White Fandango with the red propeller to be a negative variation/error cos it simply had missed the chrome process or am i wrong.

The good part that i had noticed about Jason is that he is a regular poster on this forum with all his super-finds and unheard-of variations from which we all learn.I have yet to come across another die-hard collector with so much passion for our hobby and mainly his selflessness to sharing.Everyone will agree that Jason has a gift of sniffing out the rarest of variants.
An estimate of just over 20x models in my collection was because of Jasons posts and pics and im truly grateful for this. I THANK YOU VERY MUCH JASON !!!!
Keep on posting Jason.... :D :D
