Before the NEC Birmingham toy fair I went on the Saturday to the Windsor toy fair. I found a lovely little collection of models, all "Matchbox" and all were 20p each. I also found the 'Copper' Vauxhall Cresta and thought I was going to get that for 20p as well, but the stall holder obviously knows about these models fetching more money and stung me a full £5 for it...!
One of the regular wheeled Matchbox models was a clear glazing Scenicriuser coach, this has now joined my other two examples with clear glazing and one of my pictures shows all four models together.
Two examples of the Ford Capri were nice to have, with one of them having the tow hook stabilizer, this is an extension of the rear section of the baseplate and find it odd that Lesney felt this was an important addition to the specification, but why did they not do it to more models!

Note the tow hook stabilizer on the right-hand side Ford Capri.

I now have Three coaches with the clear glazing!

Very pleased to put a Vauxhall Cresta back into my Vauxhall collection, especially for just £5!
On the Sunday it was Forum 'Posse' Day at the NEC Birmingham, with everybody turning up except poor old Nick, may be next time. I did not buy anything of note and would have missed a Stannard book for £80 had Alex not told me about it, but later I find he has secured it for a mere £60, so well done Alex.
During our 10:15 meeting, we had some very constructive chat and displays of rare models, in particular Hugh ("Idris"), had a nice cross-section of 'Regular Wheel' and 'Superfast' oddities, but the crowning moment was to see Three examples of the 'Group 6' in normal mid-Green and the pictures have already appeared elsewhere on this forum, search them out and enjoy, or click on this link...

For me it turned out to be Free Gift time when both Reg ("Fixer") and Hugh, each gave me a model and the model from Hugh was a real treat, being one of my favourite 'Superfast' models from the period, the Lotus Europa in metallic Blue, but this was no ordinary example, it was the version with the 'Open' ends to the front bumper, a version I had not seen until Alex posted pictures of his example some time ago on this forum and Hugh actually said I could have his example as it sat on the table in front of me...I protested at the offer, but he insisted he had a much better example himself and wanted me to have this one, well, I was most surprised but very happy with my newly aquired 'HTF' model, it has now joined my non Rolls-Royce collection, thank you again Hugh for your generosity.

Note the delicate bumper ends on this version, maybe this is why the areas were filled-in to prevent the ends from being bent in towards the body during playtime sessions!
Ghosty.
