If this forum is only to be of rare Regular Wheel colours then what it could get a hit and miss forum, as what I consider a rare colour model in some one elses eyes it is only HTF.
As I live in Perth Australia I am really restricked to Ebay or other auction houses, most collectors in the UK, or USA have the pleasure of going to Toy Fairs to find that elusive model.
But in Perth on the Western side of Australia we have only local get togethers, they do have some nice Toy Fairs on the Eastern side, but Adelaide is the nearest city to me and that is about 2000 miles away not just a car drive away.

To me this Bronze 32B model is quite rare but to some others with all the toy fairs they can look at so many 32b models so to them it is only HTF. :) :)

So who will be the judge as to what is classed as Rare or what is HTF model????

The 44b in grey with silver wheels is only the second one I have seen, and the 32b in bronze is about the third or fourth so they are both holy grails as far as I am concerned.

Now then Nick do not go down another tangent,as we are only supposed to be posting photos of coloured variations, not other variations. But when it comes to wheels variations I would have to agree with what you say. :) :)

Sigh.

I stopped reading when I saw the "no HTF models, rare only" rule in the same post implying red 53a Aston Martins with BPW are rare, but white over red 50a Commers are only HTF. Eh? I'd reverse that.

What about boxes that are holy grails? Are we "allowed" to post them?

Where's the fun in quibbling about rules about what we can post here for 3 pages anyhow?

Cheers,
Gavin

'HOLY GRAIL' Boxes.

There are no doubt, many forum members with Boxes in their collections they consider as 'HTF' and/or 'Very Rare', and there is the problem with my statement...'and/or'...which is it and what constitutes a box to be classed as 'Very Rare', regardless of the model inside and if you only have the empty box, what version/variation of model belongs in that box?

If it can be established between us what is a 'HTF' box and what is a 'Very Rare' box, I'll be happy to see those 'Very Rare' boxes posted here, but I don't have any in my own collection (maybe because it is limited to just Rolls-Royce), and the only examples I can think off are the first box for #24c Rolls-Royce Silver Shadow saloon with a blue car artwork and the early 'Superfast' boxes with the small red script on the main artwork, being changed to black script and I would certainly class both these as 'HTF' boxes, because as I look around the various member's postings, they are evidently being found.

Thank you Gavin for bringing this forward for comment and maybe we can have some input from other members with extensive box collection details and explain what they consider to be a 'Very Rare' box.

Hmmmmm, I must admit that when this thread started I did suspect it may get a little contentious........
Surely the information and pictures on the site cover all the RW htf and rare models, although I admit it would be nice for there to be an easily accessible equivalent for the later SF models.
If there is a desire to have one thread on the forum which lists and shows the rarest RW models by colour alone could I suggest the 'Top 50' list from the 40 years book as a starting point. This could maybe be discussed and then altered by general agreement (if possible  ). I suspect if wheel, decal and casting variations are included the potential for different opinions will only grow.....

Hello Ewan, the idea I had for this was based on the fact there was not an area or location that I could go to, to see such rare models as the 'Reverse Colour Wrecker' or a RED Vauxhall Victor and if it were possible to get them together in one place, it would allow me and other members to see them, without searching for them around the other areas of the forum.

'Top 50' list...I don't really want to include somebody else's already published listing, I would rather all our own efforts be allowed to stand up for itself and aquire credit for what it is and some of the same models are likely to appear here any way, but if more members want to try starting with that list, then I may be swayed.

'Casting Variations'...As I stated in an earlier posting here, I don't think casting variations should be included, there are far too many and they are already looked after in the relevant sections and commented on by the posting member and following viewers, proving how well the forum works in that respect.

THE Rt HONOURABLE GHOSTY DOES A U-TURN ON HIS PARTY'S POLICY...

Hello Guys, despite my reservations about including 'TRANSITION' models in the 'Holy Grail' section, I have decided they will be OK to be posted here.

I have cracked under pressure from some well respected members of the forum and I agree there are some very nice, very rare examples out there and I know you can get more than one example of the same Transitional model in your collection, so yes, they are now 'IN'.
