The Lotus is an excellent find. There's a Yum Yum shop about 4 miles from my house.
If you don't already know this Yum Yum was founded in !971 the same time that the Lotus was discontinued. I would find it doubtful that
a small start-up would ask Lesney to do a promo when Mattel was right up the road.
I think the chip company may be a more logical route. The fonts on there logo looks very similar to your model.
Plus, they have been around since 1959.
Regardless of the possible promo idea. It's an excellent find, as is the Rolls.

Thanks Jeff! The chip company graphics seem nothing like rust on yellow although the donut company is close -the colours of custard + donut! . Thinking about the Cal connection for the factory approved hobby shop Herbies,perhaps the same Bronner rep was behind a run of racers was the regarded as a good way to launch an upmarket donut brand in 1971.........

That's is a good point that you raise about Don's hobby shop. They would have been close together. Still, motorman has a good point. Why a F1 car in a US market. A police car would have been a much better choice. Cops and donuts.
Plus the matter of lack of discovery after all these years. Really makes little sense. Yum Yum stared in a mall, most likely on a shoe string budget. All that said. I hope the model turns out to to the rarest there is. Karma is a good thing.

Thanks for the link to their retro packaging,the rust coloured YUM YUM is very significant. Also there have always been so many collectors in California that little would get by them in 40 years however Quebec is not famed for its Lesney collector base so who would know what went on there back in 1971! The SF19 Lotus back in 1970 could easily have been mistaken for an Indy 500 car by folks - choice of the casting would be associating YUM YUM with winning races. I will email the Quebec company.

I would love to see it in hand some day When there only is one, we should not make rapid assumptions if its real or fake or what ever, we should look for the reason on what is most likely to be the story. Good start Mick by writing to the companies and ask. Also there could be 100 reasons of why it turns up in Denmark, but danish people did travel alot to US in the 70'ies. Well keep us posted, and maybe compare to as many of the yellow shades of lesney that we know. There must be a 100% fit?? Photos please!!
This specimen does look somewhat like a color-trial.There would be a ten-fold added bonus if the Yum-Yum decals are proven to be legit.

One cannot do much with all the monies in this world but can do much more if he strives toward contentment.
I still think the Yum Yum tape looks like nothing more than good old common sticky tape (sellotape) and not a professional produced decal or label as you would expect to see on a promotion model. It just looks very crude the way this sticky tape has been added to the model IMHO, almost child like.
I am however confident that this is a very important find and the most plausible explanation for its existance would be a colour trial.
