RSSierra's Dinky Additions
Re: RSSierra's Dinky Additions
If you want to add some more Police Zodiacs to your collection, don't forget that there are 3 different styles of door sticker, not to mention yellow and blue bases. Interesting about the blue paint on your Police car's back door. As most blue Zodiacs have the back doors painted over white, what on earth were Dinky playing at?
Re: RSSierra's Dinky Additions

Mk2 Foden tailboard in hard to find colours and amazing condition.

Re: RSSierra's Dinky Additions
Most of the really good finds I have had recently have been from ebay generalist antique dealers who list a single Dinky item without really knowing what it is and attaching a what I would term ridiculously low buy it now. Both the Foden and Octopus chain truck above have fallen into this category.
These dealers more than make up for the number who think every playworn Dinky is a 24 carat money spinner.
Tonight I found another lot which looked promising on first glance. Titled Dinky Meccano Trucks with Drivers the main photo was:
So the main photo shows what looks like 2 x 6 wheel wagons and a mobile canteen. Good but nothing initially seemingly out of the ordinary. But interesting enough to hit buy now.
Then I notice there are two additional photo's:
So more models gradually appear that are not in the listing title, so I then decide to look at the description. The other cars, being Military Austins, are mentioned and included. The second photo shows one, then another in the third photo in one of the truck beds. Both have windscreens.......Which means they are pre war....then I enhance the pictures and at last notice that least one of the trucks, if not both and the canteen have smooth hubs...More pre war or immediate post war indications. Then the fatigue distortion / lengthening on the green trucks bed (check out the ill fitting tilt) becomes apparent. Further confirmation of age. Getting excited at this point, sad but true. Multiple 70+ year old items in one lot. The military Austin Seven is one of the few army Dinky toys I do not have so to see two in one lot is unbelievable.
Buy now pushed....... 25 quid well spent, added bonus they are in Australia, so shipping is quick and cheap.
I'm a very happy collector!
Point me in the direction of more generalist antique dealers please...
As usual better pics to come when they turn up.

Major result mate!!
25 quid for them is silly. They are still out there. Wire screens on the cars too!
