Nice piece Ghosty...I'm sure it's crossed your mind what seat that particular model had..not one you can flip over I'm afraid. ;)

Ghosthunting for me recently and bagged a couple of rare Ghosts.

This first model I have been chasing for Years and finally the pictured example came my way.

This is a copy of the 'Models of Yesteryear' Y-7, 1912 Rolls-Royce but with the rear upper section removed to make it look more like an open tourer.

This particular example has the 'WHEELER' brand name printed on the backing card with an additional sticker showing the importer/distributer.

I only know of this brand in connection with this actual model, nothing else and I do not know if any other models were in the range.

Needless to say, it comes from Hong Kong.

Another Ghost to come my way is a re-boxing of the usual 'UNIVERSAL' 1907 Silver Ghost.

The re-boxing here was done by 'PLASTY' who were a very large German toys and models distributor and mostly famous for re-packaging Airfix kits for the German market. This as we know is a slightly larger copy of the Y-15, 1907 Silver Ghost.

The model inside the box comes from Hong Kong then packaged in the box in Germany.

So, after all the Years I have been chasing Ghosts, some new ones still turn up :)

Must have been wonderful to find those ones Kevin after looking for so long. :)
Are they plastic or metal castings?

Those Two are metal with plastic triming and yes, the feeling is wonderful when you finally secure something like that for the collection.

Many times I've been asked how many models do I have and I have to say I don't know, I stopped counting well over 10 Years ago and the total then was around 1500. It was never the biggest collection then, but has always been the most comprehensive because of the number of variations I have managed to collect of the primary diecast brands like Corgi, Dinky and Matchbox, but also variations within the plastic kits like Airfx etc.

It really is amazing to find variations among what appear to be the same models and many collectors only have the one or two examples in their collections not realizing more are out there, so the trick to having an exstensive collection is to buy every example you see or at least buy the model every Year it is available through retail sources, this is what I did starting in the 1970's.

I tend to count up about once a year, to see if the actual displayed models match my computer records. For some reason, they never do! It may be a bit easier this time round as the models are more spread out now the giftware is out of the cases.
