Well done Alex. It does have the 'Trim Strip' and did you notice the body is the low arch design. Collect your Gold star at the end of class.

Re: "Ghosty" adds a Rolls-Royce model to his collection!!!
This Bentley has just been added to my collection. It is one of the early issues in metallic Green affectionitely known as 'Applegreen' and very collectible because of that.
This particular example is from ebay and what caught my attention was the lack of any decals on both sides of the body and what I thought from the pictures, a Silver painted fuel filler cap at the rear, Two items we know are on 'Pre-Production' models. Now I have the model and checked the details, I find it is a regular production model.
Here is a regular model with decals on the side. 'Applegreen' Bentley models can still commend a Three figure price. My new purchase was under £40 (although I know of a cheaper example...don't I Reg... ), so seemed to be destined to come into my collection.

Not just the early models suffer. This is issue 7 with the short baseplate.

Re: "Ghosty" adds a Rolls-Royce model to his collection!!!
The recent Sandown Park toy fair secured another one of these soft plastic models for me.
This is not the actual example, I have had to borrow this picture from my files until I can create a studio area for my own pictures.
This is from America, about 4 inches long and generally assigned to 'IRWIN'.
Irwin was a very large toy and games developer and distributor based in Toronto Canada, sourcing items from many companies. The Rolls-Royce comes from a range of models (toys), made in the same style as Tudor Rose toys, a simple one piece brightly coloured body with a simple wheel/axle combination clipped into the body.
Models I know of include Jaguar, Mercedes-Benz, Austin Healey, MG, Triumph, Porsche, VW Beetle and Aston Martin.
The Rolls-Royce has been moulded accurately enough to tell which car it is based on, a Freestone & Webb touring body on design number 3171A, mounted on a Silver Wraith chassis.
The range of models seem to have been issued as Two distinct issues from Irwin. The first models are in a stiffer plastic with IRWIN MADE IN THE U.S. moulded inside the bodies. The Austin Healey was the first subject and dates back to 1969, shown as an artist's rendering on the front cover of the catalogue, as shown below.
The second issues are in a much softer plastic with the Irwin name blanked out showing just the remains of...U.S.
These seem to be from the 1970's but I have not found any catalogues from this period to confirm this, anyone know this for sure!
I have Two examples of the Rolls-Royce and a Mercedes-Benz 190SL, made in the softer plastic without the IRWIN name and a Triumph TR3 in the harder plastic with the IRWIN name.

Re: "Ghosty" adds a Rolls-Royce model to his collection!!!
''Malibu'' asked me to post Four 'FREE' gift models in this thread. These are some models given to me by another forum member included in a box with the Corgi Holmes Wrecker Truck.
They are #69 Silver Shadow DHC, #31 Silver Cloud II and Two examples of #66 Silver Spirit.
Nothing particlarly rare but when they come to you the way they did, they are very welcome and mean just as much to me as pristene modles brought with my own cash.
The Blue Drop-Top would make a good candidate for converting into a hard top saloon by H.J. Mulliner Park Ward, the same model as the Corgi Toys.

Well, not quite a model but an advert for a model.
Been after an original advert for some time but while the image can be found on the internet it was never credited to a specific journal, so finding this on ebay was a real hoot!
This actual page has been taken out of 'Look & Learn', Dec 1969.
Just noticed it shows a favourite model of mine...
