It is a little over a Week since my dear beloved Dad passed away. It is still very difficult as I sort through His property, but I find myself now talking to Him as if he were still sitting in His chair. Something I asked Him to do, was to now guide and help me with what I do for the rest of my natural life.

It seems he is quite Happy to do this and the Three models below came through the front door from ebay at silly low prices, but each one is special.

Model above. Y-6 issue 3, (In the MICA White book), without the side label positioning 'Pips'. It was found the Lady operators placing the 'Borough Green & District' sticky labels could not get them all in the same place or were placed on the model slightly slanting. a quick solution was to cast a little guide ridge to help with the positioning, so these early versions without the guide 'Pips' are more collectible than the versions with the 'Pips'. This was under £10. I think this is my 5th or 6th example.

Model above. Y-15 with un-plated (Silver-Grey), 'Generic' wheel rims and a hole in the rear base boss. The Rolls-Royce with these wheels is very hard to find and when they do turn up, they usually have 'Brass' plated wheel rims.

Model above. Y-6 in the very 1st issue 'Straw' box with the small 'Y-6' on the end-flaps. Very soon after the 'Straw' box was introduced, the model's 'Y' number on each end-flap was larger and in the case of the Rolls-Royce models, a registration script was added to the 7 lines of text on the rear of the header.

As soon as I saw the Y-15 with un-plated wheels I knew it was different to the model I already had and shown on the forum elsewhere. The colour shade is lighter and there is a Lesney instigated hole in the rear base boss, that is missing from my other model.

So thank you Dad for guiding these special models my way.

No, but if that's what you want, I'll try and get something sorted for you.

Hi Ghosty

Some more nice additions for your collection I see, I was wondering if you have got round to displaying them yet or ever will because I'm sure it was you who said your's was all stored away like all mine are.

It's a shame if they are because I would love to see them all, and while I remember I Passed a really nice old rolls Royce a couple of weeks ago and thought of you, it was sat parked on a trailer been towed somewhere, I never had my phone with me to take a photo and by the time I got back with one it was gone.

Hello Lee.

No, none of my Rolls-Royce models are on display, not a single model, there is simply no where for any to be put on display, but while with Father I did have many out of their boxes for research purposes spread across one of His book cases (I think I could get about 40 models all lined up in one row!) and they do look good together, but sadly now he is not with me I have to move out of His property and back to my old address where no models can be displayed!

Some of my collection has been photographed for an up coming model car magazine article to be printed during this Year. This will at least show a quite small part of the collection, just to tease everybody... :D

Sorry Ghosty I never thought and I wasn't aware you was living with your father, anyway I would like to see those photos from that magazine article if the opportunity arises.

I like the Y15 with unplated wheels, which give a more authentic look.

I look forward to seeing your collection pictures - you must have a great collection, it is a shame you don't have the space to keep them on display. Most of my collection is on display, as I don't like having my toys packed away, but they do clutter the place up a bit!

Our loved ones remain with us inside even after they have passed away. My father still feels close since he passed away a couple of years ago.
