The Triumph looks very interesting with those transfers. The second line does look like "rent a car". They may turn out to be aftermarket, but who knows? Hopefully the seller will be able to provide some more details.

Excellent karma on the Mini Moke, and well deserved!

I've been busy the past couple of weeks, but today I took a photo of the yellow 521 I bought several weeks ago, shown alongside its red sibling.

Side plates appear to be aligned on both sides and have consistent playwear to the rest of the car so look like they have been there for some time. The bottom line of text is unreadable in the photo's and I will update photo's once received.

Doing some additional research on the Hertz logo history, the second line is likely to be Rent A Car. The trapezoid logo was used from 1918 to 1978. So the labels / decals are at least 38 yeas old in their own right. I will try and get provenance off the seller.

Hertz NZ promo piece......who knows.
You jammy bugger! If I'd seen that you'd have had a bidding war on!....

That's why I jumped on it....too good a possibility to pass up.......$40 buy now including postage so no great loss if they are aftermarket. But the sizing, placement and age make me seriously wonder whether this is a promo. Finding anything online for a limited local 1970 's release will be impossible.

The seller picked up the two Dinky as part of a bulk Matchbox lot so no provenance that can be tracked.

Cheers

Dave

Had quick word with a mate who has been involved with HERTZ in NZ for decades (at least since the 1980s and perhaps earlier)... anyway he believes he has every Hertz promotional item issued here and a huge collection of Hertz models - he's never heard of this item and believes it is probably the work of an enthusiast (read child or collector). He also went on to say that to the best of his knowledge Hertz never used this Triumph in its rental fleet.

Thanks Ian, that's the kind of detail I was looking for.

I will post pics of the model when it arrives.

Yes, but it looks complete. They are so hard to find with the canopy, antenna, and decals intact. Great find!

Very nice pair Fred, I'm still looking for a good condition red version.
