On a somewhat related note, I put a silica gel packet in my display case. I was told that placing one of them in a tool-box will prevent corrosion on the tools contained therein, so I figured it may well help the models as well.

And a most impressive collection you have, Ghosty. To think that even 30 years ago, you would need a few shelves to house a music library that will now fit on a few SD cards!

I do have those Silica Gel packs dotted around the one shed with a mixture of models and Hi-Fi units. Photographers always have these in their kit bags so I had some spare.

You know this, of course: silica gel adsorbs moisture onto its large surface area, but not forever! It needs to be dried out regularly to remain effective.

Well, if one is to have a 1:76 scale Land-Rover (12A), one might as well have a 1:1 scale to compare it to. Have four in fact. 1950, two 1951's and a 1952. One 1951 is on the road and driving about, the others are projects. Well, and a project 101FC and a 1968 Mini. Besides that, postage stamps. Penny Reds & Blues and plate reconstruction. Keeps me out of trouble, as well as playing editor for the local LR club newsletter.

   no doubt Silica gel packs are perfect sources to absorb moisture and keep things dry, therefore, it is kept along with some tablets and chemicals to keep them safe. However, it wouldn't be bad option to keep the things from moisture.
