Bert, I think it's also important to distinguish between different base moulds. I think there were two, but there could be more. These two have various detail differences but the two most obvious are:

- the space between the wheel aperture and the demarkation line of the textured area. It's most obvious on the right wheel (the bottom of the photograph)
- the casting line round the textured area near the rear rivet, where the C-shape meets the straight lines. In this case, the more obvious change is on the left side (the top in this picture).

Some of the differences we see in the grille could be because of the different moulds.

Not sure if this will help but I have taken a photo of my playworn prepro, base does not have the textured area. Base is a little loose at the front so the gap is a bit bigger.
