Hi Hugh Have you ever heard of some Red Victors being resprayed in the 70s , mainly for the collectors that couldn't get a true one.

This is certainly plausable as during 1970, the #13 Dodge Wrecker truck was recreated in the rare 'Reverse Colours' at Lesney for some members of a then current Matchbox models collectors club. This model was not a radical departure from an original model and was identified by the use of crimped axle-ends. Sadly all these years later it has become just as elusive as an original reverse wrecker!

One big monkey wrench in the theory is that the 13d castings were still being made, the Victor was long in the past. Was the tooling still around? Who knows but probably not.

Hi Hugh I emailed one of our long standing members, I asked him about the resprays he had not heard of any but he knew of a man that had sprayed some red victors but these could be easily recognised by the dash board casting I wish i could remember who i spoke to years ago about them. Pete

I see a wave of red Vauxhall Victor's coming down the line in the near future! All of the forger's are licking their lips when they saw what this one went for. Will be interesting to see what pops up in the near future.

the price of the 4B leads me to suspect this is one of those BTO dealers that gets "alien " help with the bids.
may be 100% original ...
but there are quite a few that run direct competition for items and get ridiculous bids !!EVERY!! time
