remove overcoat --- use crystal soap. Thick soap on the model roughly. The model is packed into plastic foil ... When the paint is soft, when you rub the model, it's time to wash in lukewarm water with the washing brush ...it dont harm Plastic and rubber ...

Excellent....Lets see some other attempts bad or good....Its all fascinating stuff......Word of warning for those trying to save a few bob....Poundworld sell a drain unblocker £1!!! It stripped a sacrificial Corgi trailer :o of its paint it came out OK mind you I left it a bit to long [3 days] and when I pulled it out like a Rabbit from a hat the wheels [aluminium]had disappeared hey hey. :D :D .
That happened when I tried Caustic soda years ago and my freshly stripped Dinky A40 Devon came out with no sills but hey most of the rael cars a owned had no sills it was the 70s   So bear that in mind with any soda product slowly slowly catch the monkey.........

Oh by the way all those items I pictured earlier have been stripped and sold seems to be a quick way of disposing of workable castings.... ;)

Agree about stripped models selling well, saves a lot of time and work for the new owners wanting to do some projects.

The funny thing is that its one of my favorite jobs in fact back in 1981 I did a T.O.P.S course on Spray Painting and spent my first week there stripping an Escort van of its many coats of paint as this van had been painted with every types of paint known to man with a nice coat of Valspar enamel to finish it off in a coach painting style by brush.Under neath the coats it was absolutely covered in dents but no rust..When you opened the rear doors it was like one of those pieces of rock you get that has split open and exposed a magnificent multi coloured stalactite abyss...The trainer there said "Right strip that van till its completely bare",that included pounds of filler. That was one of the most satisfying weeks work I have ever done. :) Then it was my turn to prepare and paint first cellulose then two pack then sealer and cellulose again followed by coach paint applied by another team..One of the teams worked on a Volvo saloon in maroon cellulose that they then spent two weeks polishing up to Rolls Royce standard and believe me when I say it shone like a diamond....In fact I still see it around where I live occasionally.

..But I digress,I love stripping paint....
