Thank you Mac for the plated Bugatti picture. It looks stunningly bright and minty condition, which is unusual for a model that may have been mounted on an ashtray. Do you have any back story with this that you can share with us, also can you confirm there are NOT any race number decals under the plating on the rear and is there any places on or in the model where you can see signs of Red or Blue paint, thank's.

could you explain why this would be unusal? Does it refer to the plating?
I would expect the opposite: the model is mounted and does not give any play value. And if the ashtray isn't used, the model shouldn't have any damage..

I agree with your view on this model, but the examples seen so far in collectors collections tend not to be as good is the example shown by "Mac".

Hi Ghosty. This model was purchased through an auction sponsored by MICA. It is not a reproduction and not a MICA remake. This was an early plating trial on a Yesteryear model and was not intended for use on an ashtray. It has no holes in the base and rubber tires with the idea of enclosing in a lucite paperweight. There are no race decals under the plating and no signs of color. The inside is bare metal and the rivets appear untampered. Agreed it is very shiny but appears to be original. The plating has a dull sheen under UV which indicates an older process, but I can't confirm the age of the plating. Macdonald

Thank's Mac for that, 'Yesteryear' collectors are aware of the 'Transpalite' models and the fact they are not tooled for ashtray mounting, making your plated Bugatti very rare.

You say the tyres are rubber, but in fact in your picture they look like the standard Black 'Smooth' treaded tyres fitted to the normal production models which were used on the first 'Transpalite' models, but caused reaction problems with the 'Luctite' material, so rubber 'O' rings were sourced and fitted to later 'Transpalite' models.
