That 1956 Private German Pocket Catalog with it's French stamped Shop name (Or perhaps a collector's special stamp??) on both pages is a very intriguing find Steve. I only read a limited amount of German, but to see a printed catalog this old in any language is a real treat. Thanks for showing it here on the Forum for we collectors to drool over. The 27A appears to be the rare blue/blue early just released version of it, barely making it into this great catalog. How fascinating of an early Lesney collectors item..... kwakers

To set the record straight: this foldout is not German but Swiss. It features the name and address of the Swiss Matchbox distributor Waldmeier of Basel, who apparently had this foldout produced. The stamp features the name of a toyshop in the town of Morges, which is located in the Canton of Vaud in western Switzerland (near Geneva). "La Maison du Jouet" = "The House of Toys".

Since Steve first showed us this foldout many years ago, it has been permanently available for public viewing on John Nijhuis' Matchbox Forum website.

There is also a German version of the same foldout, produced by the German branch of the Waldmeier company, located in Lörrach/Baden, which is in the southwestern German state of Baden-Württemberg, actually not far from the Swiss border and from Basel:



This example, which features a stamp from a fruit store in Berlin ("Obst am Wedding"), sadly does not belong to me. It used to be in Ralph Egbert Richter's collection and was sold in his Vectis auction in 2014.

This one is a big surprise for me, as I do not think I have seen it before, and it is obviously Austrian!

The prices are in Austrian schillings (the 1-75 Series was ATS 8 each in 1966), and the abbreviation "BB" towards the top stands for the Berrick Brothers company of Vienna, which was the Austrian Matchbox distributor at the time.

It is also interesting to note that this was exactly the time when the former Major Pack models (incorrectly spelled "Mayor Pack" ) were transferred over to the King Size range. Fascinating!

Perhaps it is appropriate for me to re-post my Austrian leaflet from 1958 here, for the benefit of those who may not have seen it yet:



Quite remarkably, the price of MB Miniatures was relatively stable in those days: ATS 7.40 in 1958, ATS 8 in 1960 (as seen in the Austrian pricelist in the 1960 pocket catalogue) and still ATS 8 in 1966.

Since the Models of Yesteryear were only put under the Matchbox brand in 1965, those which do not have the name "MATCHBOX" printed on them might be even more interesting!

The Austrian Price list from 1966, I can't remember where that came from. I did attend a number of European swap meets before returning home to New Zealand so it was probably picked up on one of those trips. Here are some more pictures of it.

Christian, have you seen my New Zealand Matchbox post. it has a 1978 CC48 collectors case made in New Zealand. Just thought you might be interested.

Marcel, I did have a spare 1966 Japanese Catalogue. If I remember correctly it had a small bit of tape on the spine otherwise it was mint. I'll try and locate it for you.
