Thanks J for showing the base colour, I was expecting a black base, for no reason in particular. Looks great with the thin front wheels.

Hi Jason,

I don't collect the #70 Dragster models (wish Lesney had gone with a Charger road car instead) but I'd be interested to know if the thin front wheels are solid or hollow.

Do you think these came at the beginning of production or were using up old wheel stocks?

Cheers

John

In Nicks Guide the #70 Grit Spreader has mixed up informations.

The text on top says:
There are only 2 known SF variations, the uncommon 5 slot thin 12.5mm wheels which usually appear with dark red axle covers or the very common 4 slot 12.5mm thin wheels usually with black axle covers.
A photo descriptions says:

Above: And the slightly rarer 4 slot wheels
Whats the right info now?

I think the text is correct and the caption incorrect. The four-spoke wheels are most common.

Cheers,
Gavin

Gavin, I agree, the caption text is a little confusing when read along side the main text, imho, the #70 with 5 spoke wheels is less common than it's 4 spoke sibling but not difficult to find. Getting a mint example may prove a little more challenging. :D

It is interesting reading the differing opinions regarding the wheels.

From my experience I wouldn't say either type of wheel is more or less common than the other. Using the word rarer could be misconstrued by some who might think one or other wheel version is worth far more than it actually is.

If it were me I would amend the descriptions to just show the two different wheel types and not differentiate between them, but this is just my opinion :D .

Hi John,
The front wheels are hollow, not sure about production but the prepro/prototype shown earlier has narrow front wheels by the look of it.
