It appears the maroon color is very similar to the other maroon color models.
Shows very well the difference between the red and maroon

I hope I am not breaking any forum rules by replying to a pretty old thread, but it is relevant to it. I have a 53B that I would like to list, and would appreciate some help from the gurus regarding its coulor. Wishful thinking has me thinking that it is maroon.

Here are a couple of pictures.





I must say it looks much darker in person than in the pictures...

Hello Kevin C, the model that you show is the Red one and that one is very nice to have with gpw.

Here are some photos of the two different Reds, and the slight shade difference in the Maroon models.

I guess it was obvious once I posted the pictures and compared them to other 53b models shown in this thread, but as was said earlier, in the hand it sure looks a different colour. (wishing again).

Hello Kevin C, nice to have another Kevin on board!

The query over the colour of your particular model is a very common practice and happens with many models, as it is difficult at times to decide what colour you are looking at and because the particular shade of Red chosen by Lesney for the Mercedes is dark to start with, it is easy to start considering it as Maroon.

If you are in a position to have several examples it will be much easier to see the difference, but if you only have the one then coming to a forum such as this is the next best thing, not only that but there is so much more to learn and become interested in, so welcome to the forum, thanks for showing the Mercedes and don't worry about re-starting an old thread, that is good, enjoy the rest of the forum.
