When model number 38e was introduced, it was not the Dolomite as intended, it was an Armstrong Siddeley, so what happened to the Dolomite?
This has never been resolved and it never was introduced into the range, despite a prototype being made, so, when Matchbox International had settled down the range of...'The Dinky Collection' models, one model they had always intended making was a Triumph Dolomite and it was to be based on the original design in the type of car, a roadster drop-head coupe, but in 1/43rd scale and fully detailed.
To mark the occasion, it was certificated, packed in a special box and came to market in 1990. But, it has of course not been made in the U.K. but in China.
