Last time I looked into routers, the conclusion I came to was that they were all much of a muchness and had the same basic parameters/settings. The only real difference I could find was that some were supported by the helpdesk of the provider concerned whilst all the rest weren't. If you can find details of the router settings for Sky broadband (I( would suggest that Google is a good place to start - although this might prove a bit tricky without an Internet connection!), then it's probably worth your while trying any spare router you have lying around.motorman wrote:Thanks Joe. Is the router plugged into the 'Master' socket or 'Remote' socket (an extension socket from where the first socket to be installed in the home). 'Master' socket will be a good place to start a lengthy process of ilimination of faults.
If the unit works when plugged into the 'Master' socket, then the fault lies in the 'Remote' socket or the filter plugged into that socket. Change the filter if you have another one or try without filter, they are there to screen out other signals from baby monitors, mobile phones or other radio based systems nearby.
Access to your routers settings does require a stable internet connection and typing this into your browser search box...198.168.1.1, should open up your specific routers user adjustable settings and while I don't recommend you adjust much while in there, it is worth noting down a few things.
Do we want to take this any further or let the 'Guy from Sky' have his moment of fame by fixing your router problems...
