Not sure if I should start a new topic or not, but thought I would keep this with the 3b discussion. Nick, Stannard and AIM all list the trim to grill, headlights and bumper. It looks like I have 3 different styles of trim:

I had the opportunity to examine the above model at December's NEC toyfair. It definitely does show traces of gold paint on the exhaust box but, strangely, it is on both the inside and outside faces. If the grille trim were also gold, it would make some kind of sense, but it's not.
Gold and silver trim together on the same model is odd enough, but when the gold trim is also present on a hidden face, it is even more peculiar.

Kind of directs one towards the "owner enhancement" side of the theory.
