Hi Tj & Idris, these were my initial thoughts on Graham as well although he is a general toy collector/seller.I am no large-toy collector by any means like yourselves and my intentions were actually to find out if Graham knew/knows more about these blue barrels than most do hence my quote with no defamation or damage intended: My interest is why would Graham want to pass this as a pre-pro or as any alternative coupled to a #51 JD Trailer boxed set.
My thoughts were perhaps these slightly used much paler blue specimens he sold were previously tied to a 3-in-a-row type of sprue and so expected someone to come up some/such clarity/confirmation and whether the sprue notches were previously inspected.Undoubtedly Graham is a fair man and one of our best sellers around,a favorite amongst us all and always puts things right.
I now tend to believe that these blue barrels pictured here on the truck-pic posted by Idris came from a very limited run.
