The purple windows are not to hard to get, just the model was quite cheap and I could not resist it and as it turned out it was one I had overlooked and did
not have at all. Still learning a bit myself on these later ones John , its just nice to get mint ones instead of my normal chipped ones.J
Thanks Jason, I'll have to get myself some resources on Superfast. I've just bought a small cardboard box full of models, very cheap. I actually bought the lot because there were a couple of very nice James Bond Corgi's in the low profile boxes and the sale included around 50 boxed Superfast. They're probably all commons though. I enjoy Christian's site very much, but for a novice, identifying the htf's isn't easy. :D

Having seen the Sambron with tampo in the shops but not having bought one at the time (How was I to know it was going to be rare? It was a new model when I saw it, so I assumed that this was to be the standard issue.), I was extremely pleased to acquire an absolutely mint example for the princely sum of £60 (but I do wonder whether it is really 120 times as nice as Jason's example).

That is a good price and in mint condition you did very well. J

A great find Hugh, only let down by that box!!!!.

It shouldn't be too difficult to find a mint box deserved of that model.

I see that according to Paul Carr (here) only 250 of these tampo Sambrons were made for promotional purposes in France. I do wonder whether that figure (like the 3,000 Beales-Bealsons) is actually correct.
Certainly they were not all sent to France since I saw them for sale in boxes in a toy shop in the UK and, on the old forum, it was reported that they had been found blister-packed in the US (with the tampo towards the carboard!). Now I know that this promotional was mentioned in U.K. Matchbox and I'm pretty sure that it was stated that the models sold through normal retail outlets were simply the result of overproduction of the promotional version, but I can't find the reference.
Can anyone add any more facts?

I've now found online another Paul Carr article (unfortunately deleted, so only available without its accompanying photographs as Google's cached version) in which he states that 500 were produced......

Majorette Citroen SM + E type both early issues in uncommon colours worth £10 alone! Great to see quality turning up in the UK...............

Nice Sambron buy Idris.I had only seen one other specimen and in very poor condition so mint examples are really hard to come by.The price u paid is a steal and im sure the underbidder would have profanitized himself times over.I would also hold onto the original box that it came in irrespective of condition.Your specimen and Jasons are fabulous.
Enjoy

Having now had the time to read the rest of the cached document referred to above, I find that it contains a lot of interesting snippets of information. It is a transcript of a presentation given by Paul at the 25th MICA UK Convention in 2010 (and it must have been an enthralling lecture when accompanied by all the photographs).
Since the Google cache is tricky to find and not especially easy to read, I have invested some time in turning the text into a Word document. If anyone would like a copy, please PM me. (I would post it here as an embedded attachment, but my guess is that there are copyright issues.)

Slightly better upgrade in red, this one has always been a tough one for me. One day I would really like one in better condition but I would need a lot more money.
