Edit your pictures.
Re: Edit your pictures.
I post my photos from my pc directly. I reduce them to 20% in paint first (usually less than 50kb). They fit well within the screen when they're posted but still have the scroll bars, is there anyway to eliminate these?

Re: Edit your pictures.
Hi johnboy, that's interesting, on or just under 50 KB may still be too large regards the actual 'File Size', if you still get 'Slider Bars' around the image this is suggesting this is the case.
Try this... open an image in 'Preview', (the basic picture editing program installed on all PC's and Laptops) and take a screen grab by pressing the 'Prt Sc' key, then press the 'Start' key, (the key with the Windows flag on it), open 'Paint' and 'Paste' and it sounds as if you know your way around from here on.
This is how the third picture was created of the Y-10 Silver Ghost on page 2 and as Nick has just posted, you know by clicking on the image what happens, but I guess you don't want to see the 'Sliders' in the first place around your pictures.
See you soon,

Re: Edit your pictures.
Thanks Ghosty. I don't have the option to crop in preview mode, so I used Windows Live Photo Gallery and then reduced the size below 50kb. It's ok for a quick pic but a bit convoluted.

Here is a very easy to use online photo resizer
http://www.resizeyourimage.com/
After resizing, the photo can be saved by "right clicking" and then clicking "save as image".
One may wish to rename the file before saving so as to not overwrite their original.

Re: Edit your pictures.
There are a handfull of good Photo editing programes on the 'net', but you can use what is already pre-installed in your PC with a bit of practice.
The image below shows an original picture taken with a digital camera, loaded into a laptop with no editing whatsoever, completely as the camera took it. The 'File Size' of this image is a whopping 3.16 MB and represents a lot of the images posted by members to the forum, forcing the addition of those 'Sliders' around the image. When the picture is opened by clicking on 'Preview', it will appear on your screen as a standard physical size, depending on the size of your computer's screen, so it's always going to be around 9 inches by 7 inches, if you now make a fresh copy of this, (by using the 'PRINT SCREEN' method) the resulting image will be much smaller, with a 'File Size' of around 63 KB, (Kilo being considerably smaller than Mega), this is the picture you post to the forum.
The main idea behind all this, is to reduce the actual 'File Size' of the image, not the physical size. An image with only a 20 KB File Size can be big, but looks horribly out of focus when 'Zoomed in', our username avatar images all have a small 'File Size' and lack detail and sharpness, when looked at quite close up.

Re: Edit your pictures.
Another test. Opened in preview and took a screen copy. Then opened and cropped in paint without changing any other dimensions. It's a better sized picture on-screen and only 36.5KiB, but it's still got those pesky scroll bars

Re: Edit your pictures.
OK johnboy, open a picture in 'Microsoft Office Picture Manager' and reduce the image displayed with the slider control at the bottom right of your screen, do a screen grab and see how that works.
The beauty of this programme is you can ghange the size of your pictures easily, but I would always then do a screen grab of the resized image and take that through 'Paint' etc, give it a try.

Re: Edit your pictures.
Thanks again Ghosty. ok so I opened this in Picture Manager and it opened at 18%, I took it down a touch to 15%, grabbed the screen and cropped it in paint without changing the dimensions any further.
