I tend to agree with you Alex, but I have handled models in the past, that at the time, I could not get a picture of it due to not having a Camera, especially if it was seen in a location you would not expect to see it and models were around long before we had mobiles with cameras built-in.
Many years ago, a gift shop on the East coast (Gt Yarmouth as it happens), had some pewter finish models in their window display, including a Rolls and Bentley but the shop was closed and without a camera amongst us, I was a bit annoyed to say the least, I could not go back to the shop hoping it was open, as we were not staying there long enough and sadly I still don't have those two models in my collection, but can remember them well enough to describe them.
To give Robert Newson credit, he has in the past been very reliable with his model information and findings, however, that does not mean he is right all of the time, none of us are perfect.

Ghosty valid comments mate, however if i was him and producing a publication on my chosen subject, in his case Benbros, than i would walk to the ends of earth to ensure that i had the show stopper in my book to ensure good sales and what better way to sell your book than to include images of the rarest model. which he claimed to have held in his own hands. I realise that we dont know when in time he refers to having actually seen this model so perhaps the opportunity was lost to photograph it for his publication.
Unfortunately we can only take his word for it that it actually exists, which is a shame.
On saying that it wouldn't suprise me if an example of this never seen before model was found by Jason (nearlymint) in Midas Kingdom or perhaps Mick (SMS) in some yard sale in Denmark

Hi Alex,
Yes, I think it's a 'Given' that if anyone is going to find the Benbros R.A.C. Land Rover, we all know who it is...that guy who calls himself "Spearmint" or something like that
