Interesting JPS with Matt black instead of gloss black, the Matt finish is totally even all over. I have shown a base photo and also a comparison photo with a gloss version so hopefully the difference can be seen. I have come across various models over the years with Matt bodies such as streakers and also some 50d Cortinas but this is the first JPS one I have seen.

Very interesting Rob did it leave the factory like that or could enviromental factors cause previously glossy paint to turn to a matt looking effect?

In all honesty I could not say either way Alex, both is possible I suppose. Could be down to baking of paint at factory or equally so down to environmental factors.

As I mentioned above I have seen other models with this same Matt paint finish instead of a gloss finish so this JPS example is in no way unique, just an interesting example when compared side by side with the gloss variation.

What is worth mentioning is that whatever caused the paintwork to be Matt does not seem to have affected the gold printing that I can see, and this has been the case as well with some streakers models that I have seen with a Matt finish.

We need to find another example hopefully from a different source to where Rob's example was sourced, to help with confirming the model as Factory finish.
Another 'Beater' would be handy to lift away the Gold trim painting to see if the Black is gloss, if it is, I would think the Black has suffered in some way to environmental factors with the Gold giving protection to the area its covering, anyone got a 'Beater' handy for us... :D
