Hi all,
I was going to post this in the 25 series thread, but as it's more general I'll drop it here.
I recently saw an auction for a "genuine" 33r Mechanical horse and trailer, in green, with the "Carter Patterson" tin tilt fitted.
No way is this genuine. The 33 was NEVER fitted with the tin tilt, let alone the liveried tilt which was exclusive to 25b.
Close examination of the listing even showed where the tilt had been trimmed to fit the shorter 33r bed.
Don't get me wrong, even trimmed the tilt was worth having, just don't sell it as something it never was.
CW.

I bought this red broken pre war 33 Mechanical Horse a while back as I thought the wheels may come in useful. On closer inspection I have however decided to keep it as it is for the reason that it must be a very early example. The back wheels have the raised centre section, although the front wheel seems to be of the later smooth design but has kept most of the original chrome finish on one side.

The only other example I have with a raised centre wheel is a 23a racing car also shown with original green tyres. The wheels on this were also chromed originally and it must have looked quite spectacular with this chrome wheel / tyre combination new:

These hubs called "Tootsietoys type" are not very rare, they can be found on all the models which were made in 1934 and 1935. Like the models with criss cross chassis, these hubs are copies of the Tootsietoys models.
