I think the suggested price reflects that fact that it's rare, but not particularly desirable simply because the variation cannot be seen without inverting the model (and who wants to stare at an upside-down crane?).

Hi Jazz. I had to estimate the value on this one because I never see them for sale, But Hugh's point is very valid, It has a variation that can't be seen so I valued it with this in mind. I think I sold one recently, a repaint, it went for not very much ££s.

I understand, Hugh point is very valid as always.

This variation is not different than base colors or text variations, but I agree a up side down crane is not a looker

And Nick it was not a critic just a question, I appreciate your work and your estimates.

I still don,t have a braceless one yet but i have a rare colour trial,came from the same guy has the grit truck colour trial

It is Super interesting that your Crane with it's odd color boom actually has the later base with brace Mokosex. What a Great pair of models, Thanks for showing them here! Please hire a black ops team to search that man's attic for other pre-pros or color trials he may have forgotten about.
The braceless Cranes are very rare Nick. My opinion of Mint in box for this one would have to be at least 100 Pounds +, in full agreement with Jazz' view of this one, but understanding why the variation may not be considered popular as you and Idris have pointed out correctly. BUT!!!! Who here even has one, or has in fact even seen a Mint one in anyone's collection?? They are very RARE to begin with, they have not been overlooked, AND, we are all still turning these over every time one is seen with few found even used..... (Please someone not valuing this variation, sell me your Mint one to replace Jason's chipped example that I now value very highly, and I will gladly pay my higher 100 estimate for it without any box from ANY source....)
I also appreciate your pricing Nick, but the Forum could also be a discussion board for occasionally updating your pricing of oddballs like this braceless Crane, Harvester without base hole and/or open step, etc. as their relative rarity is determined by us in MINT condition. To value the rare braceless version only double the 'common' one seems way too cheap.....kwakers

I agree with Dick, your model with brace and the grey jib is super interesting. I have not seen it before. It is a nice example of a very strange and odd models which sometimes occasionally occurs and which have no logical explaination at first glance. Thanks for sharing nice photos.

I think Tim popped over and sorted him out ,the SAS were to slow,from memory there were two green grit trucks,the 8 wheel crane,a grey bodied 32 tanker,red /orange cement truck,and a ford wreck truck,i was very lucky and got both of mine in a job lot of beaters off ebay for under a fiver ,but at the time it was a gamble

When they were found we had a discussion on the board and came to the conclusion that they were late colour trials possibly even for the sf range
