OK, what you are more or less confirming is that a Setra coach issued in a certain year, is very likely to be an a blister card with a matching date of issue, rather than a previous years blister card as exampled with the #24 in my post.

Keeping this thread alive with the Lotus conundrum will have to include slightly off-topic ramblings such as those above, but all adding to the overall picture, so can we see a listing of the Setra coach colour introductions so we know exactly what colour coach was issued first.

Looking at the examples in 'The Superfast casting show' I see examples of the box with and without the 'TM' near the 'X' in "Matchbox" and a Brazilian blister card very similar (but clearly not exactly the same), as the #24 above, without a visible date on the front of the card.

Also interesting to see an example of the Metallic purple model with what at first looks like a date, that has been drawn on the rear section of the base with a black marker pen...does it say...1971, 1972 or 1974? I do not know what the last digit is.

No - new designs of blister and box and catalogue tended to be issued at year end in time for christmas - most 1971 made models would be in copyright 1970 blisters, most 1972 made models would be in copyright 1971 blisters and i can tell you that copyright 1972 blisters were the first to be sold in the UK and that they went to department stores initially in November/December 1972 - my Nan bought me a #39 Tractor, #21 Foden and #27 230SL in copyright 1972 blisters for Christmas 1972 and I still have the Foden + tractor in their tatty blisters from that day! I have a gold Setra in a copyright 1970 blister and an empty tatty copyright 1972 blister my childhood that once had a metallic plumb Setra new to me late 1973 or early 1974

Thanks Reg, thats a USA NJ blister so this would have been packed for Christmas 1971 or later. Cars went by sea in bulk and were boxed or blistered up in the US factory so allow for transit and time in stock prior to packing it doesnt seem likely that this was made any earlier than summer 1971 and could be anytime in 1972. I wonder if we will find a yellow example in any other sort of blister, perhaps a 1970 or 71 Canada design???

Good searching Reg, it is dated 1971 and is the second of two designs I know of with red model description stamped over a small white area behind the model.

Shown below is the other version (with of course a Rolls-Royce!!), note also the red model description stamping over the small white area behind the model.

Thanks Alex, brilliant searching. This blister card is the one that replaces the one in my picture, note the black (instead of red), model description stamping over a larger (instead of the small), white area behind the model. This is also dated 1971, and the fact its the 'Lotus-Yellow' Setra is even better, just what we want for digging further into the mystery Lotus model on this thread.
