True, and it's really strange that every time i go over the wall, the sun is always shining in England. I was blinded all day it's been so long since i have seen the bloody thing!!

Hi All I found the NEC a mixed bag, brought a 48 Dump Truck in a I box off a friend the best I've seen big bucks but I have been after this box for ages & one to cross off the list. A number 20 Taxi bright yellow, completely different yellow to what I already had, & twin pack Red Javelin with horse box a snip at £12. About one of the best NEC's I have been to in years. Quite a few matchbox about but some silly prices, roll on Sandown Pete.

as promised Alex you have first dibs on the javelin when the day comes , it was a pleasure to meet you I person along with Hugh and as always Kevin
you are right those two are a wealth of knowledge and I too could sit and listen all day , I must agree Hugh you had some wonderful pre pro and htf with you including your generous gift from Mike
the three green #45s looked so good together I hope the pictures do our little display justice
I picked up a few bits, some lone stars, stingeroo with blue forks a nice blue #46a and a #19d which cloud be an orange 1a with labels
all in all a very good day pity to miss Pete would have been nice to add another face and I wonder what happened to our leader Nick
only gripe the poor lighting at the venue made it hard to judge colours

I agree Reg the lighting at the NEC is an issue making it so very hard to judge the true colour of certain models. Nightmare.

Check out the "holy grail" post for some images of three very rare SF#45's in unison.

Thanks again to Hugh and Reg for bringing their examples along to join mine.

Sorry I could not make it to the NEC as planned. I was ready to go right up till midnight on the night before, Earlier in the week some lowlife got into my garden and stole the engine from my speedboat. Although the boat is parked in my front garden it is secure because there are two cars blocking it in, On saturday night my sister went out in her car, she was supposed to come home early that evening but she decided to stay at a friends . So the boat was not secure, I knew that I would not be able to sleep and I would have to be up in 4 hours for the NEC. This all left me little choice so at 12.30 I took the boat back up to my Daughter place in Scotland, 433 miles at 60-65 mph, Took me 10 hours to do the journey which included half hours sleep in a layby packed with noisey b******d trucks,
So I never got to the NEC but I did get time with my grandkids so I'm happy anyway.

Hi All I spotted the twin pack before eight I think it was an elderly couple clearing out the loft. I think I must have had brain freeze I picked it up & put it back I knew what a Javelin was but never seen a red one, after twenty minutes it was still there so the seller knocked me a couple of quid off I was well pleased. Although there was plenty of matchbox up there the boxes seem to be getting worse I still struggle to get any mint E3s & E4s Pete

Oh dear! sorry you could not make it to the NEC Nick, pitty really, there was a Guy there selling a newly aquired speed boat engine he says came from the Essex area so chances are it would have been a perfect fit for your boat...!

Take care Nick see you soon at another event.

Ghosty.

May I take this opportunity to thank the forum members who made my Day at the NEC toy fair such an enjoyable Day. It was nice to put faces to such people as "Petethesweet1", "Idris" and "Misterpop".

Shame Nick could not make it this time.

I was also pleased to meet "Fixer" again and see his latest 'Lone-Star' finds and well, what can I say about "Motormam"?

Alex, I can't tell you how excited I was with the prospect of meeting you and you did not dissapoint, So glad we both made it but the biggest thanks to you for travelling the furthest and making the Day a success.

I must also convey some special thanks to Hugh ("Idris"), Reg ("Fixer") and Alex again, for the free gifts, I felt guilty of not bringing anything for you Guys, so one Day in the future, I hope we can do something similar and I will bring some gifts.

Hugh, Marmaduke sends his appologies he could not attend the event with his master, but had to stay at the Mansion's garden and re-position some of the Oak Trees, as they were blocking Sunlight from coming into his Garden shed.

Ghosty.
