Re: "MATCHBOX" copies etc.
Hello Matchboxmarcel,
Thank's for showing the blister carded Mercer, that is the exact same model shown in my earlier picture above and if you look at the lower right corner of the card, you can see the 'LN' logo, slightly obscured by your Camera flash and yes, they are proper 'Yesteryears' shown on the 'Header' section of the card, this is one example of really shameful copying!

Here is the same model (Mercer), but without the little 'LN' name moulded onto the surface. I have highlighted the area where the little 'LN' should be.

Here is another version of the 'LN' models, this is their Benz, but blister mounted on a later card without actual pictures of 'Yesteryear' models on the header, instead, they have used coloured drawings! and the 'LN' logo is on the opposite corner.
Was this because Lesney said NO to their earlier packaging, possibly!

Hello Matchboxmarcel,
Your diecast models are inspired by the 'Yesteryear' models and not direct copies, they were made by 'UNIVERSAL MANUFACTURING' in Hong Kong and came to the UK market through our 'British Home Stores' shops in the mid to late 1970's.
I have included a close up detail of their logo and one of the other several box designs for them (the Rolls-Royce of course!), and your set of plastic models is another set marketed by several firms, one in particular called 'YAXYON' with I believe all the same cars with some doubling-up of at least one of the models to give the impression the set is really big and your getting more models than you think!

Re: "MATCHBOX" copies etc.
The garage is difficult to clarify, because the original company to make this was 'Rapheal Lipkin' and actually made for "Matchbox" and the box carries the 'RL' logo, so this is not really a copy or is it? I believe the version you have shown is still made with the same moulds as the original by a later incarnation of 'LIPKIN' and possibly part of their 'Pipin' range, not totally sure about that but it does look like a variation of the first 'LIPKIN' garage, so I suspose these garages are not copies at all, what do other members think of this.
Thanks for showing it here Matchboxmarcel.

These have been posted before but I thought it would be better off here had them for a while and with thanks to Christian I now know they are from a short production run in Hungary

Re: "MATCHBOX" copies etc.
The metal Water Tanker is by Playart. It is from the same series as the Citroën DS Le Dandy Coupé which is a downsized copy of the 1:43 scale Corgi model.Ewan wrote:A couple of Hong Kong Water Tanker copies I noticed on ebay here, one plastic and one diecast. I know we don't discuss live auctions here, but no-one went for them and they're now on their second time around. I have them on my watch list so if anyone wants the link please PM me - I won't be bidding. (I hope that seems fair to everyone?)

This one is by Galanite of Sweden. Found on websites dealing with vinyl toys, e.g.: http://hem.bredband.net/plastbilar/gala ... 6.htm#gt04
