Yes, once you put some alternating electrical current through a coil of copper wire with a magnet inside, you can move some air as the magnet is repelled by the coiled wire fluctuating from being magnetic, to non magnetic and back again. Fix a cone of plastic or card to this moving magnet and you can move some serious amounts of air...Hang on a moment, have I just invented the loudspeaker...!

Actually, what is happening is that the magnetic field generated by the coiled wire changes polarity, resulting in that the magnet being alternately repelled and attracted
