Is anyone going to Shepton Mallet tomorrow? I think I'll be there.

Did anyone go to September's NEC in the end and, if so, was anything interesting found?

I went and met up with Al and young Dylan having our own little show
My 2 best finds were a pair of lone star roadmasters, a model T Ford (the figures were added by me) and best of all Genevieve complete with figures

Very nice Reg, glad you finally got yourself a Darracq. This wonderful little model with so much background history to it was a mere 5/11 in 1956. Another 9d for postage from the retailer for delivery.

I bet you paid a bit more than that for yours :D

Reg showed me these Kevin, they really are quite fragile. You couldn’t put any weight on them as the plastics would buckle. Definitely not a toy, more for display.

I did mate but no where near what a boxed one goes for and Al is right the axles are bent on the Darracq but they are flimsy

Yes I know how delicate these models are, I have the same two as you Reg but I expect in the 50's the use of plastic along with some metal was seen as a good idea.

It has been suggested by some Lone Star collectors that this range of models were going to be marketed as kits and that is the reason for there strange construction and with care these models can be taken apart.

NEC BIRMINGHAM TOY FAIR, THURSDAY 27 DEC 2018

Anyone going? I plan to attend with Motorkid. Hope to see the usual faces there and some new ones hopefully.

Can we tempt you Hugh?

I could be tempted (especially since I've just landed some work for the first half of next year), but I strongly suspect that there'll be a three-line whip for a clan gathering on my wife's side (which, since I want to live, obviously takes precedence).

Ok Hugh, well assuming you don’t get tied up and whipped we might see you make an appearance :D
