Toy fair news
Re: Toy fair news
It was pretty quiet, numbers seem to get less each time. There doesn't seem to be much of an increase when the doors open to the "public". Picked up a few upgrades, but nothing spectacular.

I went. A few familiar matchbox traders but no foreign ones. Tons of dinky. I picked up a gold superfast 46 merc with opening doors which I've been after for a while, and also a few cheap unboxed superfast. My pockets aren't deep enough (or willing enough for some of the prices at sandown).
Re: Toy fair news
I had a good day....the buggies were added to the set at home and Si the same box was sold at auction so must be an early issue
And very nice to meet Si (ogdi)

Re: Toy fair news
Wow Reg you have done well.
The two 'Silvers' are fabulous and very hard to find in such good condition plus boxes!
The 'Flyway' track set was first catalogued in 1969 (ofiicially called the FLY-LOOP then) but by 1970, it had become the FLYWAY STARTER SET number 310 and included one 'flyers' car. Later on in 1970, a special 3 part support (catalogue number 400), was introduced to help hold the track in the loop-the-loop configuration. I see your set has this and in fact your two buggies do not actually belong in the set so you will have to find those ultra rare bob-sleigh models to replace them.
Set number 538 from 1972 was the starter set 310 upgraded to include one dune buggy. The bob-sleigh set was number 541, CRESTA SPEED SET from 1972.
The label on your box top is telling a lie as the contents are not as described. 7ft track length sections were the standard length used by Lone-Star to create a series of accessory packs which often included one table clip. You clearly have a length of track (in orange) and the 3 part support (in yellow) and bob-sleigh instructions. At first I thought it was the special 'SunCrush' offer set simply because of the box, whatever it is it is still very hard stuff to come by!

Re: Toy fair news
thank's Kev (good to see you're posting) neither Si or myself had seen this packaging before and suspect it's an early run before the picture boxes came out
as to the contents I don't really know what goes with what so your post is a massive help as usual, I popped the buggies in from my collection (as it said buggies on the leaflet) just to make it look more complete for the picture, and for £6 it was a bargain
the Silvers are like hen's teeth and to find 2 along with the Mercedes on the same stall well just beating Si by seconds
