Another Major Pack. This one has a replacement part from Flowers as the rear ramp was missing. As replacement cast parts go, this one fit perfectly with little work needed. The detail on the inside was very good, detail on the exterior of the ramp was fair. This trailer had one axle support broken away clean at the top of the fender (or the wheel well). The remaining axle support had the tip missing, broken dead center in the axle hole leaving just a cradle. The cab came with axles and black plastic wheels. Of course (due to the damage) there was no axle or wheels for the trailer. I went with black wheels to match the cab. However, in all likelyhood, the trailer and cab were later matched (mismatched) by some previous owner as this trailer casting should be GPW if going by the time line. Still, it came out very nice and I'm very happy with it.

Besides the simple replacement of the above post's M7 rear ramp, here is the repair of the axle supports in more detail. They were broken as described above. In the first picture below, you can see where I've taken an axle support off the remains of a regular wheel Girder Truck. Piece on the right is what it was cut from, piece on the left is the cut away part that was transplanted on the M7 trailer. In the last photo you can see the transplanted axle support and the repair I made on the existing (but damaged) support. I used a small brass washer to repair the missing portion of the axle support.

If one wanted, they could make the washer disappear in by adding filler putty to thicken the existing axle support and blend in the washer repair. Since it's almost impossible to see unless you turn the model over, I didn't see any need to go to all that trouble. Nothing goes to waste as some badly damaged models get stripped of anything usable and even the bodies get cut up for spare parts.

The early cattle trailers on that Trader suffer from open air bubble pock marks all over it.
Rather than fill them, I opted to brush paint the trailer, filling in the pock marks with paint as I went.
I got a decent finish but gave it a coat of spray lacquer to finish off.
