Hey I never thought of that, excuse me while I nip off and double the price lol.
Wow what a week it has been, Decided to do the airshow in clacton with a couple from the marina, Set off on Wednesday afternoon for bradwell marina as the tide was at the wrong time to leave from here, up early on Thursday only to find the other boat could not leave until early afternoon because of the tide height, I only needed a meter of water so I set off expecting the others to catch me up fairly shortly. There was a bit of a headwind so the going was slow but the sea was calm. They caught me up but soon turned back because friends of theirs had decided to pay them a surprise visit and were waiting at the marina for them.

Finally got to clacton, there was a two mile no boats zone around clacton beach and what with the poor visibility there was really no point in staying so I came back to tollesbury only to find I had missed the high tide so I spent a night tied to a buoy, got woke at 6.30 by a speed boat tearing past, decided I had once again missed the high tide so went back to bed only to be tossed out by another speed boat zooming past, Well if I cant go to bed I might as well try to get to my mooring so I quickly threw my clothes on, fired up the boat and headed for my mooring asap on a falling tide, I got to withing 10 meters of it and then grounded to a halt, I had run aground, no problem but I could not get ashore until the next high tide. finally about 10 hours later I managed to reach my mooring.

So on saturday I had agreed to help my friend James to move his boat to Ipswich, up early and set off into another headwind with James and another friend Greg who had offered to help, Just a mile out and the headwind was increasing and the sea was getting rougher, James and Greg were both looking rather green and it was not long before they were both 'calling for hughie' as they say. (throwing up!) the headwind was still increasing, we got to clacton but could not get the boat to go any further
the waves were still getting higher so finally after about 8 hours of motoring James said lets turn back. So we turned the boat around, switched off the engine and put up the just foresail we got back to tollesbury in about two and a half hours and, yes you guessed it, the bloody tide was too low for us to get into tollesbury so we spent another two and a half hours bouncing around tied to a buoy at mersea island before we could finally get back into tollesbury.

We hope to make another attempt on wednesday provided the weather conditions are right for it.

On another note I have been in touch with Mick (sms88) and he suggested we continue with the Husky-corgi juniors-rockets pages and also the superfast pages, I have started and I hope to have the first new page up fairly soon,

Oh yes, the wifi at the marina has been fixed, and I cant get wifi, I used to get it but now I cant, like I said, what a week it has been, - bloody poxy.

I approved 14 new members to the forum today, looks like the summer quiet period is coming to a close.

I'm not sure when I will be receiving my shipment and no copies will be released from Bloomsbury publishing's warehouse until 20th October. Sandown toyfair is on on the 12th of November and it would be an ideal place to launch the book and I'm pretty certain I should have my copies by then, The toyfair can't be beaten and its very close to London so I'm making a date for my diary.

The 12th November at
Sandown Park Racecourse,
Portsmouth Road,
Esher,
Surrey,
KT109AJ,
United Kingdom

Quite a few forum members regularly attend this toyfair so it should be a great day out.

Great to see the preview pics of the book Nick.
All that bobbing around and tide waiting with the boat, goodness !
Hopefully some fair winds and following seas, as they say, will be along for your next outing.

All the best

Nick for some unknown reason i completely missed the images you posted of the pre issue of your book. It looks great!!

I see you have now gone for the clean shaved look, did your agent ask you to do that for the book signing tour? :D

Hi Alex. Actually a very attractive barmaid from the marina said I looked much younger without the long grey beard so it is the clean shaven look for me now.
Also the ginger moustache and the grey beard looked rather odd to me.

From James Bolton of Osprey publishing via email
I hope that this email finds you well. I am working on the marketing for your upcoming book Matchbox Toys, and am currently putting together a list of people to contact regarding reviewing and writing features etc. As you are far more plugged into the die cast toy community than myself, I was wondering if you had any key contacts that you recommend that I should get in contact with?

So I have sent him a small list of names and email addresses so you could possibly be contacted at sometime in the near future. I'm not exactly sure what they want but I'm assuming it could mean a free copy of the book.
